This is the second recipe i have posted for the enchilada sauce.
Recipe for lawry s enchilada sauce. Gradually stir in tomato sauce water cumin garlic powder and onion salt into the flour and chili powder until smooth and continue cooking over medium heat approximately 10 minutes or until thickened slightly. I have my preference but take your choice. You can double it and freeze the rest.
For enchilada tacos or taco salad prepare sauce according to package directions. This sauce was in the newspaper and i have added my touch. Raise heat to medium high and bring the mixture to a simmer then reduce heat as necessary to maintain a gentle simmer.
There are taco treat restaurants in great falls for many many years. Season to taste with salt. Both are inexpensive to prepare.
The sauce will thicken some more as it cools. Cook whisking often for about 5 to 7 minutes until the sauce has thickened a bit and a spoon encounters some resistance as you stir it. Slowly whisk in tomato sauce then add broth.
Fold over tortillas sides. Pour 1 cup of the enchilada sauce into 13x9 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining 1 cup cheese.
Spoon meat mixture down center of each tortilla. In a medium saucepan over medium heat heat oil. Spoon remaining sauce over enchiladas.
