Recipe Apple Hand Pie
Beat together egg yolk and water in a small bowl.
Recipe apple hand pie. Add 2 tbsp apple liquid cover and cook 1 2 minutes until the apples start to soften. Using a 3 5 inch cookie cutter or cup cut out as many circles from the pie crusts as you can reroll any scrap pieces of dough as needed. These are the bottom crusts.
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Heat oven to 375 f. Use a 4 5 inch round cookie cutter to cut out 10 11 mini pie crusts.
Remove the chilled hand pies from the refrigerator cut a few small slits in each and lightly brush with the egg yolk wash. Cut peeled and cored apples into quarters cut each quarter into 3 wedges and cut wedges into chunks. These are the top crusts.
Using a paring knife cut a few small slits on the top of each hand pie then sprinkle generously with coarse sugar. Using a sharp knife cut slits into the remaining circles. Let butter brown to a light golden color and until butter smells toasted about 1 minute.
Place hand pies on prepared baking sheet. Fill the hand pies. How to put the hand pies together preheat oven to 375 f.
Sprinkle with salt white sugar and brown sugar. Line two baking sheets with silicone baking sheets or parchment paper. Arrange half of the circles about 3 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
