Sprinkle the buttered breadcrumbs over the top of the casserole or top with french fried onions if using.
Recipe for green bean casserole with sour cream and cheddar cheese. Heat coconut oil or butter in a large frying pan when hot add the green beans onion and garlic. Add salt and pepper to taste and cook for a few minutes until softened. Spoon into a 1 1 2 quart casserole dish and top with the reserved onions and cheese.
Pour over the cream sour cream and half of the cheese and stir through until fully combined. Move the green beans onion and garlic to the prepared baking dish. If desired sprinkle with a few tablespoons of shredded or grated parmesan cheese.
Remove from the heat and toss briefly with some of the cheddar cheese and french fried onions saving some of each to sprinkle over the top.
