Apple Pie Recipe With Orange Zest
In a large bowl combine the sliced apples cranberries orange zest orange juice brown sugar white sugar cornstarch cinnamon nutmeg and salt.

Add zest from half of the orange. Pour fruit filling into a strainer and capture the liquid about 1 2 cup. Fit 1 portion of dough into a 9 inch deep dish pie plate coated with cooking spray allowing dough to extend over edge of plate.
Let macerate release juices at room temperature for 30 minutes. In a large bowl combine apples sugar flour spices lemon juice zest and salt. Sprinkle with sugar mixture and repeat until done.
Make a lattice crust. Cut vents into top crust. Trim pastry even with edge of plate.
Next peel the orange and segment it cut out the flesh. Seal and flute edges. Pour into lined pie plate.
Pie plate with bottom pastry. Beyond edge of plate. Cut it into smaller pieces and add to the apple mixture together with brown sugar and cinnamon.
