Recipe Apple Pie American
Preheat oven to 350 degrees f 175 degrees c.

Keep lined pan and top crust chilled. Using a pastry blender or 2 knives cut in shortening and cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Lightly glaze top of pie with a beaten egg then sprinkled with a little sugar.
Transfer apple slices to pie dish and spread out evenly. Place on a wire rack and cool 30 minutes. In a medium bowl combine 2 1 3 cups flour 1 2 teaspoon salt and baking powder.
Sprinkle 1 3 cup boiling water 1 tablespoon at a time over mixture stirring with a fork until well combined. In a large bowl mix together 1 1 2 cups flour oil milk 1 1 2 teaspoons sugar and salt until evenly blended. Mix together egg white and water and brush on top.
Stir in the boiled cider or apple juice and let sit for about 20 minutes. Line a 9 inch pie pan with one. Crimp edges of the dough around the perimeter.
