Small Recipe For Buckeyes
Dip balls in chocolate allowing excess to drip off.
Small recipe for buckeyes. In a large bowl beat the sugar peanut butter and butter until smooth. Lift it into the melted chocolate and cover the peanut butter ball leaving a circle of peanut butter visible on the top. Put back on the cookie sheet and refrigerate until serving.
In a double boiler on low or in a mixing bowl fitted over a small saucepan with simmering water on low heat combine the chocolate and butter. Leave a small portion of peanut butter showing at the top to make them look like buckeyes. In a microwave safe bowl melt the chocolate and vegetable shortening stirring every 20 seconds until melted.
Remove the toothpick and carefully smooth over the hole. Press a toothpick into the top of each ball and chill in freezer for a minimum of 30 minutes or until firm. Mix together your peanut butter softened butter vanilla and powdered sugar in a large bowl.
Dip frozen peanut butter balls in chocolate holding onto the toothpick. Place on a wire rack over waxed paper. Stir frequently until melted and smooth.
Insert a toothpick in the top center of a chilled peanut butter ball. Buckeyes are an ohio favorite. Dip the ball into the melted chocolate about 3 4 of the way leaving a circle of peanut butter visible on top.
They are balls of peanut butter candy dipped in chocolate with a spot left to make them look like nuts from our state tree the buckeye. At least that is what they are supposed. Roll into 1 balls and place on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.
