Chicken Noodle Soup Recipe Orzo
Add the chicken chicken broth celery carrots fresh thyme and the bay leaf.
Chicken noodle soup recipe orzo. Cook and stir 6 8 minutes or until no longer pink. In a large saucepan heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium high heat. Remove chicken breast from soup and shred with two forks and set aside.
In a large saucepan saute onion in butter until tender. Add vegetables salt oregano and pepper. Let simmer for 20 minutes.
Cover and simmer for 25 30 minutes or until orzo and vegetables are tender. Simmer uncovered about 10 minutes until juice of chicken is clear when center of thickest part is cut at least 165 f. In same pan heat remaining oil over medium high heat.
When the soup is done simmering remove herb bundle from the soup and discard. Remove the bay leaf and the thyme. Skim fat from broth if necessary.
Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium high heat. Remove the chicken and shred. Add onion celery and parsnips.
While the soup is simmering prepare orzo pasta by following the directions on the back of the box. Cook and stir 4 6 minutes or until vegetables are crisp tender. Bring to a boil.
