Apple pie recipe new zealand. Brush top of pastry with egg white. Brush the whole top of the pie lightly with milk or water and sprinkle withsugar. Arrange apple mix into crust.
Preheat an oven to 180c. Brush remaining egg white over top of pie and sprinkle with extra chelsea raw caster sugar. Lightly grease a 22cm pie tin.
Cut slits on top to allow steam to escape. Roll to form the pie top. Roll remaining pastry into circle large enough to cover inverted 9 inch pie pan.
Brush edges of pie with some egg yolk. Use a dish with an approximate diameter of 21cm. Test with a skewer to see if the apple is soft and cooked.
Preheat oven to 180 c. Cut a few steam holes in the pastry. Fold over pastry from sides to partly cover the top of the apples.
Cut butter into slices place on top of apples. Press edges together to seal. Freeze or chill for 15 30 minutes.
