Recipe Apple Pie Crumb Topping
Pat the crumb mixture on top.
Recipe apple pie crumb topping. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and press pie crust into pie plate. Stir in raisins and walnuts optional. Add the apples to the pie crust.
Top apple slices with topping and pat it down over the apples. Refrigerate for 1 to 1 1 2 hours or until easy to handle. Pinch with fingers until large crumbs form.
Bake pie on lower rack of oven 20 minutes. In a small bowl mix together 1 2 cup flour and brown sugar. In a large bowl mix the apples lemon juice sugar flour cinnamon and nutmeg.
Sprinkle mixture over apples and toss until apple slices are evenly coated. Reduce oven temperature to 350 f and continue to bake 45 to 50 minutes longer or until apples are tender and topping is golden and crisp. In a large bowl combine apples sugar lemon juice cinnamon and remaining 1 4 cup flour.
Spoon the filling into the chilled pie crust. In a small bowl mix together white sugar 2 tablespoons flour cinnamon and nutmeg. Toss to coat and let stand 10 minutes stirring occasionally to dissolve sugar.
Spoon apple filling into pie shell and sprinkle evenly with crumb topping. Gradually add water tossing with a fork until dough forms a ball. Combine butter brown sugar and 1 cup flour in a medium mixing bowl.
